Director of Risk Management/Patient Safety - San Diego, CA
Position: Director of Risk Management/Patient Safety
Location: San Diego, CA
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Position Summary: Under direct supervision of the VP of Risk Management, serve as expert risk consultant to over 200 healthcare entities insured by BETA Risk Management Authority and HealthPro RRG. Design, implement and oversee patient safety and risk management programs based on national, statewide and local trends with a focus on organizational culture, performance improvement and risk mitigation

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement risk management and patient safety programs utilizing the principles and practice of the science of safety for Members in BETARMA and HealthPro RRG
  • Conducts analysis of local, state and national risk trends to direct loss prevention effort
  • Provides risk consultation to members and insureds. Serves as internal expert on risk related issues across the enterprise. Conducts and provides on-site risk assessments, education and training
  • Develops and implements directed loss prevention programs to include programmatic activities designed to reduce risk and enhance patient safety. Works cooperatively with BETA team members
  • Promotes good internal and external communications
  • Other duties as necessary
  • This position requires 30% travel within State of California

Qualifications:

  • BS degree; MS preferred
  • California licensed RN, NP, PA
  • CPHRM or CPPS preferred (required within 12 months of hire)
  • Clinical experience in perioperative services and/or infection control, preferred
  • Experience in project management
  • Certified trainer in TeamSTEPPS principles preferred
  • Certified trainer in Just Culture model preferred
  • Clinical nursing experience in acute care setting required
  • Minimum of five years experience as hospital or health system risk manager or patient safety officer
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • Proficient with computers/software including Office 2010 and Windows 7
Manager, Employee Safety - Granite Bay or Alamo, CA
Position: Manager, Employee Safety
Location: Granite Bay or Alamo, CA
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Position Summary: Under supervision of the Director of Employee Safety, serve as expert employee safety consultant to healthcare entities insured by BETA Risk Management Authority, HealthPro RRG and ARIS clients. Design, implement and oversee Members’ employee safety programs based on national, statewide and local trends with a focus on organizational culture, loss prevention and loss control strategies.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement customized employee safety programs utilizing the principles and practice of the science of safety for Members in BETARMA and HealthPro RRG
  • Analyze statistical data and trending to direct loss prevention efforts
  • Provides loss control and loss prevention consultation to Members and Insureds
  • Serves as internal expert on employee safety related issues across the enterprise
  • Develops and implements directed loss prevention service plans to include programmatic activities designed to enhance employee safety
  • Develops and delivers on-site employee safety program assessments, education and training programs
  • Works cooperatively with Risk Management and Safety team members and BETA departments
  • Promotes good internal and external communications
  • Achieve CEES certification within one year from date of hire
  • Other duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in related field; MS preferred
  • Licensed physical therapist and/or advanced education in physical therapy strongly preferred
  • Designation(s) in ARM, CSP, CPE or CEES preferred
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare terminology, human anatomy, human factors and ergonomics
  • Knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to workplace safety
  • Strong time management with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent group presentation and public speaking skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with computers/software including Microsoft Office 365 and Windows 7
