Gastrointestinal emergencies constitute a significant amount of emergency department visits every year. Yet 40% of patients with abdominal pain will end up with a diagnosis of “abdominal pain not yet diagnosed”, making this clinical area fraught with challenges for emergency department staff. This webinar looks at common diagnosis encountered in the emergency department, the assessment of those diagnosis as well as planning and evaluating care for patients with abdominal complaints.

Objectives:

  • Identify potential abdominal illnesses based on the location of the patient’s pain
  • Prioritize care for patients with various abdominal illnesses
  • List complications associated with pancreatitis
