Risk Management: My Pressure's Rising: Maternal Hypertension, Preeclampsia and DIC

We were fortunate to have a guest speaker for this month's webinar who serves as a faculty in the Division o fMaternal-Fetal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center and is medical director at the Perinatal Diagnostic Center in Salinas for Lucille Packard/Stanford University. Dr. Amen Ness provides an informative review of the presentation and management of preeclampsia and discusses common errors as a result of this high-risk condition which has become increasingly prevalent.

Objectives:

  • Discuss various presenting symptoms that aide in diagnosis of this condition.
  • Review current management recommendations and common errors associated with such management.
  • Identify and apply specific risk related strategies to mitigate harm and improve defensibility of lawsuits when claims arise.
