Director, Risk Management and Quality Assessment
Ms. Duncan is a registered nurse with 30 years of experience in healthcare and 12 years of experience in healthcare risk management/quality compliance, which she uses to assist BETA members and insureds in implementing risk identification and risk reduction strategies. Before joining BETA, Ms. Duncan was responsible for the risk management programs at a Texas hospital system, including risk identification, loss prevention, sentinel event management, regulatory agency reporting, claims discovery, investigation/mediation and development/implementation of reliable systems to promote patient safety throughout an integrated health system approach. She has held various healthcare management positions including OB and ED nursing services, nursing corporate trainer; utilization review for CHAMPUS/Tricare contract; health system insurance contract negotiations; healthcare program development in Sacramento County, nurse specialist with the University of CA, Davis, Assistant Chief/Nursing Director for the Sacramento County Correctional Health Services department and Risk Management/Privacy Officer for Baptist Medical Center. Developing patient safety initiatives and risk management are her passions.
Ms. Duncan received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Florida State University and Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco, School of Law School. She is certified in Healthcare Compliance.
