Every BHG departmentclaims, risk management, client services, and information servicesacts as a resource to help members reduce exposures, manage risks, and reduce coverage costs. BHG’s claims management program continues to perform exceptionally well due in large measure to our high level of expertise and ability to maintain lower-than-average case loads for each professional liability representative. With lower caseloads, claims professionals can devote more time to the details of each case, use our internal resources more effectively and reduce the need for outside legal services. In risk management and quality improvement, we continue to strengthen our highly acclaimed programs, developing new tools and services to meet members’ changing needs. In 2000, we obtained state and federal approval to serve as a qualifying entity for Critical Access Hospital (CAH) certification, which will allow smaller rural facilities to complete the CAH certification process more easily and obtain increased funding. We also launched an advanced incident reporting project that allows members to analyze their trending data online. From a secure location on our web site, risk managers and administrators can download control charts, Pareto diagrams, and claims reports that help pinpoint areas for improvement. Having the information in graphic form has saved countless hours of analysis and streamlined facilities’ loss control efforts. |
